State Records Board

The Kansas State Records Board, established by the Public Records Act (K.S.A 75-3501 et seq.), oversees the permanent preservation of important state records and provides for the orderly disposition (destruction) of other state records.

Members of the board include

  • designee of or the Attorney General, who acts as chair;
  • designee of or the Secretary of Administration;
  • designee of or the State Librarian;
  • designee of or the Executive Director of the Kansas State Historical Society;
  • and the State Archivist, who acts as secretary.

The State Records Board generally meets quarterly, on the third Thursday of each January, April, July, and October. Special meetings may be called by the chair of the board.  All meetings are considered open to the public under the Kansas Open Meetings Act.
