Scope and Content

Scope and content: Arranged alphabetically within each sub-series, with cards for the Kansas State Penitentiary, the Industrial Reformatory and local jails, and the Industrial Farm for Women. The KSP and KSIFW cards can contain information concerning prisoner's name, prisoner number, alias (if any), crime, sentence, date sentenced, sentence received, minimum and maximum, county, color, age, occupation, where or when born, weight, married, and relatives. Board actions, transfers, discharge information, remarks, and other such information may be noted on back. Some cards provide less information, such as only sentence, dates sentenced and received by the institution, county of origin, and date of birth. May also contain cards on Conditional and Citizenship Pardons, Revocations, Deceased, Discharges, and Paroles, providing the same sort of information provided above as well as information specific to that event, such as date paroled or deceased.

The Reformatory and Jail Cases subseries contains name, prisoner number, and whether the person was in jail or the reformatory. The Kansas State Industrial Farm for Women series includes cards segregated out by Parole, Discharge, and for those convicted of violating VC-205 (having a venereal disease), which are restricted.
