Scope and content: Series contains multiple folders with charts entitled "Abstract of the Assessment Roll" for a given county, dated 1862-1873. The abstracts list townships and cities within a county, including the acreage, number of town lots, personal property, railroad property, related aggregate values, and total taxable valuation of all property within the county. Included is a folder of charts documenting bonded indebtedness and expenditures such as salaries of county officials, school related expenses, and the expenses of county institutions. They also list state funds and the taxes collected to support each fund. The box in range 035 contains 1878 poll books documenting early township elections for location offices. Ownership/Custodial Hist.: The records were received from the Secretary of State's Office, however, these records were created by the Auditor of State and likely transferred to the Secretary of State in 1975 when the Auditor of State was abolished.
