Field notes from original surveys conducted on land in Kansas. Information for each location includes chains, where markers were set and what kind of markers were used, and information about the environment (water ways, types of trees and landscape, type of environment, etc). Organized numerically by volume number. Separate index to books is organized by township, providing township diagram and book and page numbers for where notes can be found about each exterior boundary line, subdivisions, fractional lines such as from when surveying Native American reservation lands, etc. Contact the reference desk to see this index.
Later field notes from (re)surveys conducted under the Bureau of Land Management have often been interfiled with these original survey records.
