Abstract: The collection consists of assembled materials from various sources providing information about the history of roads, highways, etc. in Kansas. It includes a plat of Mission and Walnut Grove Townships in Neosho County from 1939; "Notes on Kansas Roads Prior to 1855" by Clyde Hill; "Fort Leavenworth to Fort Riley Military Road" by George A. Root (published in 1936) and a page on the military road between Fort Snelling, Minnesota and Fort Towson, Oklahoma, that went through Kansas; "History of Early Kansas Highways" by H. A. Marshall (1939); and miscellaneous correspondence and other materials, including on the Overland Stage Road between Fort Larned and Santa Fe, Fort Riley, Fort Omaha, and DeSoto roads.
