Scope and content: The documents in this file are letters and petitions written to Kansas Governor Osborn concerning the appointment of Justices of the Peace for Osage, Wyandotte, and surrounding counties. A petition from citizens of Junction City township, Osage County, requests Kansas Governor Osborn to appoint R. J. Basel as Justice of the Peace. A letter from the Board of Commissioners of Osborne County advises that during a meeting held on October 6, 1873, it was decided to recommend C. J. Jones for the Office of Justice of the Peace of Tilden township. A petition on August 27, 1873, from citizens of Reno township request R. B. Soper for the appointment as Justice of the Peace of Reno County.
