Scope and content: Letters to Kansas Governor St. John in relation to the criminals Robert, James, and Jones Barker also known as Triplett. The Barker Triplett?s are accused of a robbery and murders in Caney, a city in Montgomery County, Kansas. Many of the letters are from residents in Kansas asking the Governor to offer a reward for the capture of the Barker Triplett?s. A letter from a resident of Independence, Kansas informs the Governor, he and other residents will ascertain the criminals themselves but don?t have the proper firearms or ammunition to do so. Also included, is a Power of Attorney document, signed by those who were involved in the capture of James Barker.
