Scope and Content

Scope and content: Letters from citizens of Hutchinson, Lawrence, Kingman, Topeka as well as other cities in Kansas ask the Governor to offer a reward for the arrest of Robert G. McClain. McClain is accused of forgery among other fraudulent charges, he was also the Notary Public for Hutchinson at the time. An affidavit from Mark Stephenson of Missouri claims McClain was a resident of Missouri, in the letter Stephenson also requests the reward for the arrest of McClain. A separate letter informs the Governor that a new reward should be offered for the re-arrest of McClain, as he has escaped from the Wichita, Kansas jail.
