Scope and content: This letter, dated August 27th, 1885, is from F. H. Betton, the Commissioner of Labor, regarding the office's affairs to Kansas Governor John Martin. Betton wrote about company committee meetings, including the Union Pacific Railroad, and their conclusion on labor strikes. Betton assured Martin that a strike would not happen.
