Scope and content: These letters, spanning 1885 to 1888, are from residents of Anderson County, Kansas regarding state positions to Kansas Governor John Martin. There are letters of resignation and recommendations for individuals to fill vacancies in the county surgeon, office of coroner, and the county surveyor. The county surveyor endorsement, for A. R. Mumans also has a signed petition. Established as one of the original 33 counties in 1855, Anderson County was named for proslavery speaker of the territorial legislature, Joseph C. Anderson.
