Scope and content: These letters, spanning February through March, 1886, are from the Lincoln County, Kansas surveyor and clerk regarding the county surveyor to Kansas Governor John Martin. D. L. Hollingsworth wrote his resignation from the county surveyor. The county clerk, H. H. Gilpin, verifies the vacancy and suggests the appointment of John M. Brunt as the successor. Lincoln county was founded on October 4, 1870 and named for President Abraham Lincoln.
