Scope and content: These letters, spanning 1884 to 1887, are from government officials and other individuals requesting jobs to Kansas Governor John Martin. They wrote asking for the appointment to such jobs as Adjutant General, superintendents of various institutions, clerks of various institutions, army officer, state geologist, railroad blacksmith, census taker, small business owner, police/guard, and copyist.
