Abstract: Microfilmed letters sent, letters received, and orders from Fort Hays between 1866 and 1889. The letters sent and received discuss soldier conduct, soldier & fort administration, monthly statements submitted by fort commanders to the adjutant-general of the United States, and daily fort life. The orders include lists of daily calls, orders reporting for duty or to headquarters, orders of appointment or relief of soldiers, and Garrison Court disciplinary hearings including descriptions of soldier misconduct and sentencing.
