Scheduling Electronic Records

Just as with paper records, electronic records created or received by Kansas state agencies cannot legally be destroyed unless done so in accordance with a Kansas State Records Board-approved retention and disposition schedule.

Electronic Recordkeeping Plan Template
To ensure that Kansas state agencies effectively manage electronic records with long-term value (10+ year retention), the Kansas State Records Board (SRB), with assistance from the Electronic Records Committee, developed an an Electronic Recordkeeping Plan Template.   State agencies seeking SRB approval for retention and disposition schedules that include electronic records with long-term value must append a completed electronic recordkeeping plan to the proposed schedule.  The Electronic Records Committee, at the SRB's request, reviews all electronic recordkeeping plans prior to their submission to the SRB.
