Donald Joyce Hall
Greeting card company executive and philanthropist. Born: 1928.
Donald Hall rose to be head of the Hallmark Cards, a greeting card company founded by his father Joyce Hall. Donald Hall graduated from college in 1950 and served in the U. S. Army until 1953 when he joined Hallmark Cards. He rose through the ranks of the business. After his father died in 1982 he became chairman of Hallmark's board of directors. A holder of a great deal of Hallmark stock, he is quite wealthy.
Hall lives in Mission Hills and Hallmark's main offices are across the state line in Kansas City, Missouri. Hallmark has plants in other Kansas cities. Hall and his wife Adele are heavily involved in community and philanthropic activities, donating both their time and money. Hall was inducted into the Kansas Business Hall of Fame in 1992.
