Thomas S. Wright

Politician. Born: 1809, Pennsylvania. Married: Mary, 1830s.

Nemaha County's lone delegate to the 1859 Wyandotte convention, Thomas S. Wright was born in Pennsylvania (ca. 1809) and married Mary _________ in the early 1830s. The family left Pennsylvania for Franklin County, Indiana, about 1840 and then removed to Kansas in 1857. In April 1858 Wright was appointed by the governor of the territory to fill the position of county attorney for Nemaha County, and in November of that year he was elected chairman of the board of county supervisors. Wright easily won the delegate election on June 7, 1859, and participated in the July convention at Wyandotte, serving on the militia, county and township organization, and federal relations committees. But otherwise he was not active and apparently missed some of the final sessions due to illness.
