Kansas Museum of History - Tours

Kansas Museum of History - We are sad to miss out on in-person field trips while the museum gallery is closed for renovations. However, we have been busy creating fun, educational materials to fill the void. Whether you are a parent looking for additional online learning, or a teacher hoping to expand your curriculum, we offer a variety of formats to take learning to the next level on our Classroom Materials page.  Click here for a list of our education resources arranged by grade level.

Rural School Days - Note that we do offer our Rural School Days in-person program Tuesdays through Fridays. This four-hour program is geared to fourth and fifth graders and is set in our 1920s one-room school.  Email us for additional information at KSHS.Education@KS.gov

State Archives - The State Archives is open and continues to offer guided tours of the archives. These are scheduled separately through the State Archives. The State Archives is located in the same complex in Topeka.

Plans are to reopen the museum in 2025 with brand new exhibits and interactives. Check back for new and exciting museum tours!

Before the museum closed, staff created a few video tours for visitors to enjoy. The videos feature both the Kansas Museum of History and the State Capitol. Additional videos can be found on the Kansas Historical Society and Kansas Historical Society Education YouTube channels.

The State Archives is located in the same complex in Topeka.  Guided tours of the State Archives are also available.  These are scheduled separately through the State Archives.
