History Lab at the Kansas Museum of History

If you asked yourself any of these questions, you are “doing” history. You are practicing the skills needed to make sense of the past. This is the philosophy of the new History Lab. We provide the opportunity for students to learn from artifacts, documents, photographs, ephemera, people, books, and more!

There are three ways to take advantage of the History Lab.

  1. Add 15 minutes to the beginning of your Museum visit. We can help your students better understand the question “How do we know that?” with a fun activity. FREE with paid admission to the Museum.
  2. Schedule an hour visit to solve a “History Mystery.” $3 per student. Does not include admission to the Museum.
  3. Home School Wednesdays are held on the first Wednesday of the month, 1 to 3 p.m., during the school year. Special activities for children fourth grade through high school. The Discovery Place is available at the same time for children under fourth grade. $6 per student and includes admission to the Museum.

AUDIENCE: Fourth grade and older; group size limited to 25 students.
REGISTRATION: Preregistration required for all programs.
