Biography

The Salmagundi Club of Garden City, Kansas, was organized in 1901 and is active through the present. The purpose of the organization as expressed in the original constitution was to be the mutual improvement of its members and vital questions of the day. The word salmagundi means a dish of chopped meat, anchovies, eggs, onions etc., mixed and seasoned or a medley or miscellany; a potpourri. Club membership was limited to 30 women and meetings were held from October through March each year.

This microfilm consists of records of the Salmagundi Club of Garden City, Kansas, for the period 1902 through 1989. Included are minutes, yearbooks, and miscellaneous records. The originals were loaned for microfilming by the Salmagundi Club of Garden City, Kansas.

The yearbooks available for microfilming begin with the 1905 / 1906 club year and minutes are lacking for 1915 / 1916 through December 1927 and February 1932 through March 1935. Missing copies of yearbooks and minutes are noted at the relevant places in the collection.
